Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) Houtei Figure Collection Photo Review

Gyakuten Saiban Houtei Figure CollectionI'm finally getting around to photographing some stuff I've had for a while and one of them is this: the Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) Houtei Figure Collection. I bought a case of these figures so I could get the whole set. There are seven different figures in all (six normal plus one variant).

I didn't know what to expect from these; I mean, I don't buy too many trading figures because it's sometimes hard to tell if they're gonna look really good or come out really bad. This set is somewhere in the middle, but I suppose I should've suspected that because their pricepoint is on the cheaper end of the trading figure spectrum...

Mon-Sieur Bome Collection Vol. 14 and 15: Dead or Alive Kasumi

Mon-Sieur Bome Kasumi

Mon-Sieur Bome Collection Vol. 14 and 15 have been revealed as C1 and C2 Kasumi from Dead or Alive!  Set to ship in late August, each figure will cost Y4500 (around $49). For those who don't know, the Mon-Sieur Bome Collection is a collection of pre-painted, pre-assembled PVC figures. These are basically aimed towards those who like garage kits but don't have the skills or time to paint and make them. The collection is known for it's nice sculpts and reasonable prices, and is perhaps the most well-known PVC figure maker. While I like the fact that Bome is doing Kasumi figures, I'm not quite sure I like the pose. Ah well, I'll probably get them anyway.

Continue reading for preorder info, better photos and info about a third version of the figure (Kasumi's black costume, anyone?)!

Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) Figure Collection

Gyakuten Saiban Figure CollectionPhoenix Wright fans, here are some toys for you! Relive all your favorite moments from the game with this set of figures! Yell "Objection!!" and "Take That!" whilst knocking over rival action figures. The 6 figure set has figures from a range of Gyakuten Saiban games, some of which I don't know since I've only played one of the games so far.

With the popularity of Phoenix Wright rising in the US and with the next game in the series being localized, these figures will surely be sought after in the future. Get em now for $4.90 per figure (blind packaged - you won't know which character you have until you open it) at Play-Asia.com. Figures are made by a company called Ensky; check out the official webpage here. Or if you just want to see better photos, check out this website.

New Kotobukiya DOAX Hitomi PVC Figure Available For Preorder

DOAX Hitomi PVC FigureDead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball fans may want to get in their preorders for an upcoming Hitomi figure. Due on August 31, 2006, this 1/6th scale figure features the cute karate master in her Reticulum outfit. The likeness to her virtual counterpart is pretty good, though her hair seems a little too dark and it's hard to tell if she's wearing her trademark hairband.

Interested parties can preorder the figure at CDJapan.co.jp and will eventually be charged around $70 when it ships (not including shipping). I don't know who is producing this figure and I haven't found another website with more info on this fig. Kotobukiya is the company behind this figure, which should have been obvious to me because of their history with Tecmo creating PVC figures of Ninja Gaiden characters, and producing some DOAX "One Coin" trading figures. Follow the link to preorder this figure and check out some additional photos. You can also preorder it from Hobby Link Japan.

Super Mario Bros. Soundrop

Super Mario Bros. SoundropAre you a Super Mario Bros. fan? Wish you could take some of the sounds from the game wherever you go? If so, you should check out this great set of gashapon toys from Bandai. Each "soundrop" has one sound from the classic 8-bit game which can be activated at the push of large round button. There are eight soundrops in all, each in a different color. The type of sound effect is illustrated and written out on its surface. The list of sounds is as follows:

  1. Start
  2. Jump
  3. Big
  4. Coin
  5. 1up
  6. In
  7. Swim
  8. Ouch!

Each soundrop is in a teardrop sort of shape and has a metal chain attached. They're perfect for attaching to backpacks, bags, beltloops, keyrings, Christmas trees, rear-view mirrors, or just about whatever you want to attach it to.

Ys Figure Collection: Lilia

Ys Figure Collection: LiliaLast week I went to Hawaii to visit family and do some business. One of my favorite areas on Oahu is the Kaimuki area which has some great video game/anime/comic stores such as Toys n' Joys and Collector Maniacs. One of the newer stores is Mechahawaii which primarily sells gashapon and trading figures. Their selection is simply awesome and I've yet to see a store in America that can beat them. There were many trading figures that I've never seen before, and when I saw the Ys Figure Collection series, I had to buy at least one.

Looking at the box, I was surprised at the figures being offered. Besides Adol Christin, the rest of the figures are girls, two of which are from the latest Ys game, Ys VI-The Ark of Napishtim. As with most trading figures, these are blind packaged meaning you don't know which character you'll get. I was kind of hoping for Adol, but got Lilia who was next character I wanted.
