Welcome to Ryuker.com!

Greetings and welcome to Ryuker.com, my own personal website based on my own personal videogame collection. This site is all about videogames, that is to say, collecting and playing videogames. It's basically a place to display my videogame stuff and share my opinions on various gaming topics.

So where does the name "ryuker" come from? It's the name of a spell from Sega's Phantasy Star series of games. The spell or "technique" first appeared in Phantasy Star II on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and was originally known as "Ryuka". The spell teleports the party to the last town the player saved in. I liked the idea of this website "teleporting" the viewer to places and things they may have seen before, as well as to new places. Ryuka seemed like a great fit for a name, but unfortunately, the domain name for Ryuka.com was taken by a Japanese company called--you guessed it, Ryuka.

So what now? Well, I didn't want to give up on Ryuka, so I searched some more through my various Phantasy Star games and their instruction booklets. The spell didn't appear in Phantasy Star III, but did make a return in Phantasy Star IV. But it wasn't until Phantasy Star Online that the spell was known as "RyukER", possibly to avoid legal action from Ryuka, or maybe it was just a random change. At any rate, Ryuker.com wasn't taken so I grabbed it, and that is how the name of this site came to be.
